Moses B. Ekong is Assistant Professor at the University of Uyo, Nigeria. He obtained the PhD in Anatomy in 2014, and has worked in the University system for over fifteen years. He specializes in the Neurosciences, and has carried out researches in developmental neurobiology, neurotoxicology, neuroprotection and neurotechniques. He studied calabash chalk activities in the developing brain at the University of Verona, and is currently researching on the plant, Rauwolfia vomitoria, on brain functions in health and disease conditions.
He currently uses animal models of neurotoxicology and neuroprotection, and employs such technique as behavioural tests, histology, histochemical/immunohistochemical applications and biochemical assay. He has won several grants for laboratory research training, workshops and meetings. He is a former Visiting Scholar to the University of Verona, Italy; Young Investigator Fellow of the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) Ambassador.
He has supervised several Masters and Doctorate theses, and has over seventy peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals. He is also the Managing Editor of the Nigerian Journal of Neuroscience (NJN), and the Assistant Secretary of the Society for Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA).
