Dr Kenneth O. Adagba

Kenneth is an experienced public health physician with over 15 years of combined educational attainment and progressive experience in TB, Leprosy and TB/HIV clinical care and program management. Over the last 12 years, Dr Ken has honed his expertise in the clinical and programmatic management of TB, TB training, monitoring & evaluation, and health research. He is efficient in program design, planning and implementation, attentive to details, easily adapts to new processes and has excellent report writing skills. As a vast TB trainer, Ken has a proven record of leadership, a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, he thrives well in a fast-paced environment and has presented abstracts and published articles in local and international conferences and well-reckoned journals. Kenneth is the Training and Research Coordinator at the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre, Saye-Zaria and also presently in residency training in the Department of Community Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria to improve his knowledge and skills of public health and acquire fellowship in the faculties of Community Medicine and Public Health in the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Physician. As a practising public health physician for over 12years in the Nigerian health sector, he has been desirous of exploring better, effective and efficient ways of solving problems and overcoming challenges. Kenneth is happily married with 3 kids and enjoys travelling, reading and making new friends.

 

He obtained his MBBS and MPH from the University of Benin, Benin city in 2003 and 2011 respectively. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Masters in Business Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2014 and 2016 respectively. He became an Associate Fellow of Faculty of Public Health and Community Medicine, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and Member of the Faculty Medicine, West African College of Physician in 2017 and hope to complete his fellowship in April 2020. After a successful National Youth Service Corp in 2006, he was appointed Special Assistant to the Honorary Special Adviser to Mr President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Maternal and Child Health, a position he held till May, 2007 and he later joined the Federal Ministry of Health as a medical officer in the Department of Public Health in July 2007. He functioned at various time as the focal point for leprosy, PPM-DOTS and National TB prevalence survey until he was posted to the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre in 2012 and rose to be Head of Clinical services and now the Training and Research Coordinator. As a public health physician and an assistant director on completion of his fellowship programme, a lot will be expected of him in helping to provide the necessary leadership and direction in the formulation of policies and programmes in addressing public health challenges in the country. Research and publication of research findings will go a long way in improving good health-seeking behaviour, the health and general well-being of the people.
