Samirah Abdu-Aguye

Samirah Abdu-Aguye is a lecturer at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She is an early career researcher and does research within the fields of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice. Her research deals with issues affecting the real-world usage of drugs by patients and how various factors, e.g. patient, health professionals’ and even medication can influence the rational use of medicines. Her ultimate aim is to optimize medication use within Nigeria and improve various types of treatment outcomes for patients while minimizing the associated harms of drug therapy. Samirah obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2010. She was awarded an Australia Awards in Africa Scholarship in 2013, through which she earned a Master of Clinical Pharmacy degree from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2014.
Samirah has been selected for several capacity development workshops/trainings including those convened by the West African Young Science Academies and Teaching and Research in Natural Sciences for Development in Africa (TReND). She has several peer-reviewed publications in both local and international journals and also acts as a journal reviewer. She is also a facilitator for Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) modules organized by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
