Royhaan Folarin

Royhaan's research at the Neurophytotherapy unit (NPTU) of his department elucidates the developmental mechanics of psychotic and neurodegenerative disorders while exploring the therapeutic potentials of medicinal plants. This he does in a bid to identify alternatives to the detrimental antipsychotics and neuro-palliatives currently available. He has peer-reviewed publications in both local and international journals. 

 

Born in Abeokuta Ogun state, Royhaan attended the University of Ilorin for his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Anatomy, and the University of Ibadan for his doctorate degree in neurobiology. He is a member of Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN), International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN), Anatomical Society of Nigeria (ASN) and Foresight Institute of Research and Translation (FIRAT) to mention a few. He has been a beneficiary and participant in several neuroscience workshops, trainings and summer schools convened by the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) and Teaching and Research in Natural Sciences for Development in Africa (TReND).

 

For his efforts towards impactful communication of science to the Nigerian and African community, he was recently inducted as a fellow of the African Science Literacy Network.
